Hi jtorral!

I am the happy owner of a M7 and a M11P.  I have recently bought a Visoflex2 - to be able to fully view the entire 2.8/28mm field and to use a Konica Hexanon 1.4/57mm with an adapter ring.

When using these lenses, I do not use the rangefinder and I use the M11P as I would an EV1, which is a rangefinderless camera by the way, designed from a rangefinder model... 

It is funny to see what Leica has done with the small rangefinder window on the front, turning it into a blinking light when you use the self timer 😅. I just struggle to imagine how many EV1 user are going tu use this feature.

Anyway, I think the idea of a Purerangefinder site is very good : taking photographs with a rangefinder camera is somehow special :

• you do not see exactly what is on the picture
• no depth of field preview
• only fixed focal lenses - no zoom
• time needed to focus
• ...

These are constraints we do appreciate as they bring us closer to the people, landscapes, things we see and we want to capture.

That is an  honest and fair reply.

So much to debate these days with so many cameras trying to be different. But the range finder is undeniaby a rangefinder. That being the case, how do we tell EV1 owners that their camera isnr really a range finder camera?

No ! 

Are we on rangefinder-style cameras or rangefinder cameras ? Why not consider photographers who have a "rangefinder photographer style" ? Or photographers who own a "rangefinder style camera bag" ?

FYI, I have a Voigtlander 35mm 1.2 Version IV coming my way.  The main reason for the lens coming my way is that I have the full size sample images from Leica of the new 35 Noctilux and from what I have seen, they are not clinically sharp or contrasty for a $9650.00 lens. I want to shoot similar shots with the voigtlander to make a judgement call.

NOTE, I am NOT prejudging because I do not have the Noct in hand yet. This is soley based on sample images I have already seen.

On a side note,  I have large versions of the sample images and after viewing them again, I cannot see much difference between that and the latest version of the Voigtlander 35mm 1.2.  Thats not to say the Voigtlander is better or worse. I need to get my hands on one or see some other posts with samples to cast judgement. As of now the jury is still out but the price is a death sentence! 💀

How will it compare to the Voightlander 35mm f1.2?  Looks to be a bit fatter but not as long.
